A friend of Kimberly’s had one of these babys on their home and I had to take a couple photos. It’s a yellow garden orb-weaver. Supposedly not poisonous, but the sheer size is enough to frighten you to death! The whole thing was probably 3+ inches big.

Didn’t do any serious shooting this trip. Weather kinda sucked and left my good glass at home. Shot these with my Nikon D500 and my 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6. It’s just a gut feeling, but I think my D750 has better dynamic range and is better suited for landscapes. Still, the D500 is no slouch.

Took some shots of ducks, egrets and cormorants down at Grass Valley Lake. Set up some bird seed and zip-tied a dead branch to my deck railing and got some nice shots of Stellar Jays, woodpeckers and even a Northern Flicker. The birds didn’t seem to care it was a set up ;-)
